More Photo Calendars!

I'm going to be out of town for a couple of days, and I decided to move this post from last weekend up to the top.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I haven't been inspired to blog much lately and haven't had a chance to take photos either, so it's been kinda quiet here.

Anyway, I found a few more photo calendars, so I thought I'd post again to see if anyone else is interested:) I now have 3 sunset calendars and 2 general photo calendars. Both calendars go from June 2007 to May 2008.

To give you a better idea of the photos in each calendar, here are photos of the back of each one that shows all 12 months at a glance (they are a bit out of focus, sorry).

General Photo Calendar

Sunset Photo Calendar

Again, if you want one, email me at lilikoi44@gmail.com and put Photo Calendar in the subject. In the body of the email, give me your snail mail address and let me know which calendar you want, and I'll send it to you-- even if you are outside of the USA.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Window Washing

My mom had all the windows in the house washed today and it started me thinking about cleaning in general. I pretty much detest cleaning as most of my close friends and relatives know. It's not that I don't like living in a clean place. It's the whole idea that as soon as I get done cleaning, it's time to clean all over again. It feels like a never ending cycle and it drives me up the wall. And with so many other things I'd love to be doing, why would I want to spend time on this endless cycle?

Anyway, with the windows, I started to wonder, why would anyone pay to have their windows cleaned? Sure they look nice when the guy leaves, and I can definitely understand not wanting to do it yourself. But within 10 minutes of the guy leaving the house, the windows are inevitably already smudged to some degree and it just goes down hill from there. As soon as we water the lawn, there goes the front window. And on it goes. So why pay to have something that looks nice for such a short time? I'd much rather spend that money on books:P

Monday Music Mania

Yes, I know that it is no longer Monday, but I've decided to start a weekly blog theme on Mondays called Monday Music Mania and wanted to share my plans in advance! I'll choose an artist whose music I love and post some of my favorite songs (or clips when I can't find full songs). My music taste is pretty eclectic, and I hope that those of you who choose to visit will discover some hidden treasures of the music industry!

I know my post from yesterday is just way too long to really get people to listen and try it out (even with just 30 second clips), so I think this will work out better:) Look for my first Monday Music Mania next week. I think my first few weeks will be centered around a capella music...

Music MeMe

While procrastinating, I came across this music Meme that I thought was pretty cool! I'm not planning to tag anyone, so I'm going to be a rebel and break the rules. I'll post the original MeMe in case anyone wants to play along by the rules:)

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Da Rules:

List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now.

Post these instructions in your Blog along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Okay, so my version of the Meme is quite different. I'm going to post 5 of my favorite songs from a few artists because I can't just choose just 7 songs! I'm going to have a hard enough time choosing 5 songs from some of the artists. In fact, now that I've found imeem, I may post songs more often! I just hope it works cause I had to upload the songs in some cases. Some may only be 30 second clips because of labels not granting rights to play the whole songs. If so, sorry!

Anyway, without further ado, here are my songs listed by artist:

Maroon 5

From It Won't Be Soon Before Long-- I have more favorites from Songs About Jane, but for now, I'll stick with the new album. I could post pretty much the whole album, but I'll restrain myself.

1. Better That We Break

2. Back At Your Door

3. If I Never See Your Face Again

4. Can't Stop

5. Nothing Lasts Forever

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Eric Benet
I love Eric Benet. Again, I could post way more than 5 songs, but I'll restrain myself for now.

1. Love of my Own

2. Spiritual Thang

3. Let's Stay Together (no, not the Al Green song)

4. Be Myself Again

5. Making Love

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Seal
I love Seal and wish he'd put out another new album.

1. If I Could

2. Just Like You Said

3. State of Grace

4. When A Man Is Wrong

5. Lost My Faith

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Travis
I took my Travis mix with me on the last drive to Arizona, and realized how much I miss their music!

1. Writing to Reach You

2. Side

3. Killer Queen

4. Why Does it Always Rain on Me?

5. Twenty (the whole song WOO HOO!)

Okay, I'll stop for now. I'll probably keep posting more music in the next few days:)

A Little Bit...Obsessive?

It's been over a month since I bought the new Maroon 5 CD, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, and it's still pretty much constantly in my CD player. I tend to get obsessed with new CDs that I buy (as long as it's not too disappointing after a few times through the whole CD). I play it over and over and over again until I get tired of it. Sometimes I even repeat one song over and over again as well as the entire CD. Then I move on to either another new CD or an older CD I haven't listened to for a little while.

My mom recently drove to Arizona with me to go apartment hunting, and on the way home (about 6 hours), the Maroon 5 CD never stopped playing. I think it drove my mom a little nuts LOL! She asked me once if I wanted to change the music (when we switched drivers), but I told her I was happy the way it was. I varied the music on the drive over, but once we hit Phoenix until we got home 4 days later, it was all Maroon 5.

Don't get me wrong. I have times when I have music ADD and constantly change CDs trying to find the perfect fit for my mood. But when I really like a CD, I tend to get a bit obsessive about it. I think part of it is that I love to sing along, so I listen to the songs over and over to learn the lyrics. But even after I know all the words, I listen to the songs over and over again.

So it made me wonder, am I the only one who does this? Does anyone else listen to CDs almost obsessively?

Another Interesting Search

How the heck do these search phrases get people to my blog? I saw this one today:

"Ted coppel" stanford graduation speaker

Ted Coppel did speak at my Stanford graduation ceremony in 1998, but I really don't remember ever mentioning that on my blog:/ Maybe I did...Hmmmmmm.

***Edited to add:
So I guess I did mention that Ted Coppel was the graduation speaker when I got my undergrad degree when I posted about my grad school graduation last May.

Searching for...Me?

I should be sleeping now since I have to be up in less than 6 hours, but I'm not sleepy. I decided to check my blog stats and then got to thinking about all the funny search phrases other people post about that people use to get to their blog. I went back and looked at all the phrases that have been used in the last year. Here are some of my favorites:

1. raccoon mating pics-- WTH?! I have no clue how this could lead to my blog...

2. Asterfick-- I never thought anyone else would even know this "word" let alone search on it and end up at my blog. This is what my sister's ex-boss calls an asterisk. I blogged about it back when I first started this blog, I believe.

3. hiny hiders-- I blogged about this because the logo caught my attention when I was in a bathroom stall LOL

4. I had to group these all together
a) tropical lei strip club claremont
-- I used to live just down the street from this place and the marquee messages cracked me up!

b) pasadena massage "happy ending"
-- this is what I get for blogging about the messages on the marquee at the Tropical Lei

c) riverside,ca massage parlor AND happy ending-- see above comment

Ranch of the Dancing Wolves Photos

Here are some photos I took on Memorial Day at my Uncle's Ranch, which he and my aunt call The Ranch of the Dancing Wolves, on Palomar Mountain. He passed away back in December, and my aunt invited friends, students, and relatives to the Ranch for a memorial to him. It was held in one of his favorite spots, among the Oak Trees.

Pictures from Ohio & Kentucky

As I mentioned in my post below, I was at the Reader & Author Get Together organized by Lori Foster and Dianne Castell last weekend in West Chester, Ohio.

A lot of people have been posting pictures of their time there. My photos are a bit, um, different than most. Why? Because they aren't of the actual get together with the people and such lol. I'm not very good at people photography, so I tend not to even try. I did, however, get a few photos from around town. I just wish I had more time to explore and take photos, especially from around the Cincinnati area.

Here are some photos of a church that I stopped to take when I was exploring/shopping in Mason, Ohio (where the closest Borders happens to be LOL!)

Here are some flowers from a shopping center by the hotel...

Here are some photos I took during my brief stop at Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky. I just wish I could have stopped to take some photos of the road on the way there. It was a pretty drive, but there was really no place to pull over...

And remember, if you want a free (yes, free!) photo calendar created with my photos, see the post below!

Want a Photo Calendar?

Ok, I know I've been neglecting my blog for quite a while. I'm going to try to be better about posting (notice I said try LOL!)

This last weekend, I went to the Reader/Writer Get Together that Lori Foster and Dianne Castell organize in Ohio. I donated a raffle basket (well, tote bag, really) with various photo products. I had such fun exploring all the cool things that I can make out of my photos!

It started me thinking again about opening a Cafe Press store with my photography. I've actually been meaning to do it since January, but I just never got the time. If and when I do open the store, I'll be sure to post about it here for those that might be interested.

But now, on to what I meant to post about...Photo Calendars.

I got a little overzealous when ordering the calendars I made recently, so I have a few left over. I made two different calendars: a General Photo Calendar and a Sunset Calendar. They both start in June 2007 and go through May 2008. I have 4 extra copies of each.

If you'd like a calendar, email me at lilikoi44@gmail.com and put Photo Calendar in the subject. In the body of the email, give me your snail mail address and let me know which calendar you want, and I'll send it to you-- even if you are outside of the USA. I don't know that I have that many people who will request them, but I'll give them out in the order of the emails I get (first come first served). Since I'm not sure how many people actually visit my blog anymore, feel free to pass along the word. If I run out of calendars quickly, I also have some other things I may think about giving away. I may even do a contest of some sort...who knows!

To give a bit better idea of the photos in each one so that you can choose which one you'd like, I took a photo of the back of each one that shows all 12 months at a glance (they are a bit out of focus, sorry).

General Photo Calendar

Sunset Photo Calendar (Sunsets of Southern California)

Also, I hope to be posting some new photos later this week, so stay tuned!
