Get Your Kicks On Route 66!

For those of you who visit my blog regularly, you may remember that I have been working on a Route 66 photo tribute. I just moved from my apartment in Claremont which was located just off Route 66 (aka Foothill Blvd) here in California. Between moving and seeing the movie Cars, I got all sentimental and decided to take some photos of the various signs I thought were cool along Route 66. I hope you all enjoy the photos:)

Somewhat off topic, does anyone else get all weepy and sentimental about moving or is it just me? Sometimes I wonder because I never moved as a child, but I've moved 4 times since college now! And I've always been pretty sentimental, but moving just makes me nostalgic and a bit sad.

Anyway, the pictures are in the two posts below. I had quite a few so I split them up. Also, pardon my night shots. Lighting is my biggest challenge, so some of them may not be too great.

Michelle, I feel the same way. I get really attached, and even though the move may be a good thing, I can't help but feel a little sad and nostalgic. Just the way I am.

When I was a lot younger, I used to spend a lot of time with my grandparents, and I always cried when I had to leave. And when I go home to visit my parents, it's really emotional for me and it's hard not to cry. Weird, cuz I've lived on my own since I was 19 years old, but some things never change....

I love the pics, Michelle.

I get a bit sad when moving too. It might be becaue I moved soo much as a kid. I lived in 5 different states while I was in school, and that doesn't count different homes in those states! YUK!

Hope your move gets easier on you.

Hi Michelle,

Great job on the pictures. I grew up not far from Foothill Blvd, so am familiar with the area. I love the night shots of the neon's, very well done.

I've never spent more than four years in one place since I was born, so moving is second nature to me. I've been in this house now for four years...and I'm starting to want to move!!
lol!

Thanks for the comments everyone:) It's good to know I'm not alone in being emotional when I move.

Stacy, I still do that at times when I'm living elsewhere and visit my parents. A little part of me has a hard time leaving.

Mailyn, I'm not sure how old the McDonald's is, but I figure it's probably one that's preserved the old-fashioned look outside. Otherwise, it's the same as any other McDonald's:)
